Antique Japanese rare hidden Tanto

Japanese Edo period Tanto Meiji Maki-e kiserutsusu kaiken Koshirae

Edo Tanto blade hidden in Koshirae shaped like a pipe case holder that has a fine Maki-e work (sculpted and Urushi lacquered) representing a snail and mallow leaves.
The snail symbolizes tenacity and perseverance.

In the Meiji period, the tradition of carrying hidden knives in the form of other objects was continued, in that period motivated by the prohibitions.
